Tai Chi

Tai Chi, is gentle, continuous movement that has been proven to benefit our bodies and minds in many ways; improving balance, coordination, concentrations and muscle tone. It’s great for people of all ages and can help relieve problems caused by many health conditions. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Harvard Medical School have more information about the benefits of Tai Chi.

Masks are required at all times in the RWB Community Center.

BEGINNER TAI CHI

Wednesdays, 9:45am-10:45, Room 206 (RWB Community Center)
Cost: $10

Also known as FALL PREVENTION TAI CHI or TAI CHI ARTHRITIS
Each session begins with a set of fundamental exercises to tone and relax the body. We gradually learn a set of movements that stress weight shifting, deep breathing, coordination of hands and feet and flowing movement. Each person is helped to make the adjustments they need for their own body. We enjoy learning together and we never push ourselves to over work our bodies. Everyone progresses at their own speed – no test or deadlines!
Loose, comfortable clothing and flat soled shoes recommended. Please bring your own water. DVDs are available through Amazon, to help participants practice at home.

YANG 24

Wednesdays, 11:00am-12:00pm, Room 206 (RWB Community Center)
Cost: $10

The original YANG form contains 300 movies which were shortened to 108 and known to most as the “Long Form”. In 1956, finding that 108 moves was still too difficult for the average participant to master, Yang 24 was developed. This has become the form that can be seen practiced all over the world today. It has slow, continuous, soft, circular movements with a dance like quality. Each session begins with a set of fundamental exercises. This form is a bit more challenging and rigorous, but still delivers all the benefits that Tai Chi is known for. Participants learn at their own rate and there are no exams or deadlines for learning this form.
Loose, comfortable clothing and flat soled shoes recommended. Please bring your own water. DVDs are available through Amazon, to help participants practice at home.
